She just had a pretty bad pressure crash after stopping one drip. They ended up asking us to leave while they worked on her. Not a fun 30 minutes. They had to bolus significant fluids and start an epinephrine drip. They also hooked her up to a pacing machine to make sure her Heart Rate doesn't drop below 100. The doctor did say they had to do some chest compressions to keep her pressures up while the meds kicked in. She stablized fairly well after that.
We're back in with her now and gave her a stern talking to about pulling anymore crap like that. She's stable again, but not giving us any rest.
Keep the positive thoughts coming our way. While the surgery was a HUGE step, the next 24-48 hours are even more critical for her boby to start to adjust to the new blood flow and all the trauma the surgery induced.
Dear Olivia&Sara&Ben; you are in our deepest prayers. Tom and Marie Blair
ReplyDeleteBen and Sara....
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how you're feeling at this point. Try to take care of yourselves too. I know you aren't sleeping much if at all. You have to take care of you two also!! Easier said than done, I know. I'm thinking about you all constantly. Smooches to dear Olivia. She's obviously a strong fighter. I KNOW she'll come through these next few days with flying colors!!!
hugs, headbutts and purrs

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you think that giving her stern talkings to is going to make any difference now or at any time in the future, my, are you in for a surprise. :-)
ReplyDelete[big evil grin]
Still, as parents, we live in hope that some of the talkings to will sink in :-) But we sure learn that even as babies, they have minds of their own and they quickly learn how to manipulate mommies and daddies and nannies and grandads too!
But more seriously, the body is such a delicate balance, it's a miracle it operates as amazingly as it does, so in one so tiny, it's not surprising that any little change can have big effects.
She's probably thinking ... "Everything was so cozy for so long, then I get forced out into the big wide world and then you do all this stuff to me!"
Anyway, you know that things WILL settle down in due course. Things have to heal ... and with a baby that is SO fast. I could never forget how we saw a huge deep scratch one day on our firstborn. The next day it was barely visible, then another day and it was gone!
Things will be closer to normal before you know it!
You are again in my thoughts and prayers this a.m. My first waking thought was- Go check baby Olivia. Its true you need to take care of yourselves also. Hopefully you are eating and trying to get some rest also.Sure, Thats easy to say. Know the followers here dearly love and are praying for strength for the three of you.Thank you for taking the time to keep us posted here.

Lord,
ReplyDeleteBaby Olivia's innocent life is in your hands.
We ask for your love and healing in a way that only you and parents understand.
She is surronded by love and her support is very known.
Please show her you are there also and let your power be shown.
Bless her parents please as they carry such a load.
Remind them of our love so they know they are not in this alone.
We ask you place your hands on baby Olivia's heart.
